
Congratulations to Mr. Itthirit
Noochant, a third-year student in the
Fashion Design and Styling program, for
bringing honor to the university by
winning first prize in the Thai silk
costume competition in the “Young
Model: Preserving Thai Silk”
project. This project was organized to
empower youth to carry on the heritage
of Thai silk and promote it
internationally.
Mr. Itthirit
represented Surat Thani Province under
the Surat Thani Provincial Children and
Youth Council, affiliated with the
Department of Children and Youth
Affairs, Ministry of Social Development
and Human Security, and won first prize
among participants nationwide.
On
Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 6:00 PM, Mr.
Nikorn Somklang, Minister of Social
Development and Human Security, assigned
Dr. Anekchai Ruangratanakorn, Advisor to
the Minister of Social Development and
Human Security, to preside over the
closing ceremony and award presentation
at the Phanumas Room, 10th floor, Royal
River Hotel, Bangkok. Ms. Apinya
Chomphumas, Director-General of the
Department of Children and Youth
Affairs, gave a report, along with
executives from the Ministry of Social
Development and Human Security, the
Department of Children and Youth
Affairs, and the President of the
National Children and Youth Council of
Thailand. Representatives from the
Children and Youth Councils of all 77
provinces, partner networks from both
the public and private sectors, and
children and youth from various
educational institutions participated in
the event in large numbers.
The
“Young Model: Preserving Thai
Fabric” project, held from May
6-8, 2016, aimed to promote clothing
design skills using Thai fabrics among
children and youth, foster pride in Thai
identity, and conserve and perpetuate
Thai fabrics in accordance with the
royal initiative of Her Majesty Queen
Sirikit, the Queen Mother, ensuring
their continued presence in Thai society
and their sustainable advancement to the
international stage.
The project
involved over 96 participants from the
Children and Youth Councils of all 77
provinces and various educational
institutions. It received cooperation
from partner networks such as the
Department of Community Development,
Rajamangala University of Technology
Phra Nakhon, Srinakharinwirot
University, and Brother Commercial
(Thailand) Co., Ltd., who shared
knowledge on Thai fabric wisdom,
personality development, and the
creation of contemporary Thai fabric
fashion for the international
stage.
This success reflects the
potential of students in the Fashion
Design and Styling program, Faculty of
Fine Arts, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat
University. To creatively and
contemporaryly apply design knowledge to
Thai cultural heritage, and to be a
vital force in preserving and developing
Thai textile wisdom for the future with
pride.
