On January 22, 2026, the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, continued its project to develop community products to promote sales in the communities surrounding Samsen Road, Bangkok. A workshop on developing products from palm leaves was held at the Tapi Building, Ban Yuan Samsen Community, Wachirapayaban Subdistrict, Dusit District, Bangkok. Miss Nawaporn Srisarankullawong, from the Visual Communication Design program, served as the facilitator, imparting knowledge in design and creative skills in utilizing natural materials to the local community.

This activity is part of the university's application of its expertise in art and design to community development, emphasizing hands-on learning. This included understanding material properties, developing creative concepts, designing products, and producing finished goods. The goal was for participants to apply this knowledge to develop their own products and add value to natural materials.

This learning process reflects the university's role in expanding educational opportunities and disseminating knowledge to the public, aligning with SDG 4: Quality Education, specifically the aspect of promoting lifelong learning. It provides opportunities for people outside the university to access knowledge in art and design and develop practical skills through hands-on product creation. This knowledge and skills can be applied to product development, vocational training, and the creation of learning activities within the community.

At the same time, the development of product design and production skills is linked to Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), through strengthening vocational skills and the ability to add value to community products. This is a crucial foundation for further product development, creating supplementary income, and increasing economic opportunities for people in the area. However, confirming the economic impact requires long-term monitoring, including the number of products developed, product marketing, marketing channels, and income generated from the practical application of this knowledge.

Furthermore, the development of products from palm leaves is also linked to Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), particularly the dimension of promoting and preserving the community's cultural heritage. Creating products from palm leaves focuses not only on product development or vocational skills but also on preserving the culture and identity of the Christian community of Ban Yuan Samsen. This is achieved by applying knowledge of art and design to convey stories, values, and cultural identity in a product format that is more accessible to younger generations and the general public. This work contributes to raising awareness of the value of cultural heritage and strengthens pride in the community's identity. This project lays the foundation for the preservation and transmission of culture alongside sustainable community development.

Regarding Goal 1, "No Poverty" (SDG 1: No Poverty), the project has the potential to support this goal through skill development and creating opportunities to develop products into income-generating products. However, current data is insufficient to determine whether the project can directly reduce poverty or increase household economic security. Therefore, further monitoring of product sales, generated income, and the application of skills by participants in the future is necessary.

This initiative reflects the role of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, in integrating knowledge in art and design with community development. It focuses not only on transferring production skills but also connects learning with creating economic value and preserving the cultural identity of the Ban Yuan Samsen Christian community. The resulting products serve as creative works, tools for developing vocational skills, and media for conveying the community's cultural stories, thus supporting sustainable development in the dimensions of education (SDG 4), economic and occupational development (SDG 8), and the preservation of community cultural heritage (SDG 11).ts.
