On March 5–6, 2026, the Digital Design and Innovation program at the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, took first- to third-year students to Wat Bang Sakae Lom Prachanukul School in Samut Songkhram Province. The visit was part of a project designed to foster learning about Thai fine arts and local culture while developing skills in artistic creation and digital innovation. The initiative aimed to share artistic knowledge and provide local youth with opportunities to learn through creative processes and hands-on practice.

This project leveraged the university's expertise in fine arts, design, and digital innovation to provide educational benefits to youth outside the university, integrating learning with the cultural context and local wisdom of Samut Songkhram Province. Students participated in designing activities, sharing knowledge, and co-creating artworks with the schoolchildren, thereby facilitating a mutual exchange of learning among the university, teachers, and local youth.

The activities emphasized experiential, hands-on learning, allowing students to experience the process of creating Thai art, learn about cultural narratives, and experiment with applying design and innovation concepts to their own work. This process helped develop creativity, design and communication skills, and collaborative abilities, while offering an art-learning experience distinct from standard classroom instruction.

At the same time, learning about Thai fine arts and local culture helped raise awareness among the youth regarding the value and significance of artistic and cultural heritage. Transmitting this knowledge through contemporary creative processes serves as a way to connect the new generation with the area's cultural assets. ...and establishes a foundation for the continued preservation and transmission of artistic knowledge.

This initiative directly aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4: Quality Education) by expanding access to the university's knowledge and educational resources for youth outside the institution. It fosters experiential learning and the development of creative skills—competencies essential for future learning and life.

Furthermore, the project connects to Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities) by raising awareness and encouraging participation in the conservation and transmission of cultural heritage. It offers young people opportunities to appreciate the value of Thai art, culture, and local wisdom, and to build upon this knowledge through creative processes, thereby bridging cultural heritage with the learning experiences of the new generation.

For university students, these field activities provide real-world learning experiences that enhance professional skills—such as activity design, communication, teamwork, and collaboration with educational institutions and local communities. Students can apply classroom knowledge to benefit society while gaining insight into the actual context and needs of the local area.

This initiative reflects Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University’s role in integrating academic instruction with community engagement. It utilizes art, design, and innovation to create learning spaces for youth, while simultaneously fostering an appreciation for the value of local art and culture—a vital foundation for youth development and the sustainable preservation of the community's cultural assets.
